Xero will win the struggle against QuickBooks. Here’s how.

Both Intuit (QuickBooks Online) and Xero Accounting had a price increase in the last year but the way they went about announcing it was completely different.

When you study the emails you’ll see why good marketing can make a massive difference in the success of your business!  QuickBooks email included..

QuickBook’s announcement was like a bank

There are many reasons that QuickBooks Online should be winning more users than Xero based on features and pricing but this email moment clarified just why Intuit QuickBooks is not competing as well as it could compared to their newer competitors.

Whether you really know that Xero is better accounting software or just believe what you hear is irrelevant and it’s because of the strong marketing expertise in everything Xero does!

This is the email I received from QuickBooks – what would you even do with that. Acknowledge it and move on knowing that there is one more regular bill that’s going up!

Xero leveraged it’s purchase of Hubdoc

Both Intuit and Xero are creating new features, updating features and buying companies because of their features but Xero leverages their acquisitions far better. When they made the price increase announcement it felt more like they were saving your money! $2 extra for $27.50 of value!

Xero trademarked the term beautiful business but you could also say they do beautiful marketing and if there is one thing you can learn from this it is to tell your customers all the positive things you’ve done for them while making a price increase announcement.

By the way, Xero subsequently delayed their price increase due to Covid-19 to give their customers another reason to be happy when lots of people are losing their jobs and businesses are going broke.
