Eric Jones inquires about our courses every day, but he also has a message to share

When you’re a business owner you see all sorts of things that employees don’t normally see. I get to see every online course enquiry for all our courses and its interesting to see what students want to learn but Eric Jones takes the cake.

Eric and his friends enter their details into our enquiry form at least once a day. He wants to learn everything and in ever format possible but want he really wants is tell his own story..

Online forms are used on websites to capture specific information from clients.

Visit our Xero course landing page and you don’t have to scroll down too far to see an enquiry form. In digital marketing speak an online form is for lead capture and our FREE sample is an example of a lead magnet,

This form is created using a WordPress plugin called Gravity Forms. It is a premium plugin which means you pay an annual subscription to use it and just like Microsoft Forms you can customise things like:

  • Notification message that gets sent to us
  • Confirmation method (success page etc)
  • Where the lead details go
  • Connection to Mailchimp or other email marketing system

Eric Jones is not a person but a SPAM bot

Doug Watt describes Eric best at his website blog. Eric Jones is one of dozens or possibly hundreds of different identities who’s details are automatically entered into website all around the world.

The goal of these messages is to get customers for all sorts of services like VoIP, SEO and lead generation. The problem with this type of form entry is that it fills your inbox with spam messages and the best way to prevent it is with some other form of authentication.
