Who Really Needs Phone Support These Days?

Who wants to wait for phone support for myob and xero course frustrated by waiting on the phone, lady sml

When I first took EzyLearn online in 2007 I was concerned at how much phone support students would need. What I learnt was the better the user experience and course design for our students the less calls we’d get.

Our team have been exploring ways of bringing the cost of our courses down even further in this tough economic environment and one of the biggest cost savings is to focus on SMS, Email and Website Chat support.

We have a number of graduates who are available as tutors and perhaps this could be an option, what do you think?

Micro Courses in Excel, Xero and MYOB or BUNDLES, COMPLETE Courses and COMBOS

Micro Courses and Stackable Micro Credential by EzyLearn

One of the disciplines I’ve tried to focus on when created online courses in bookkeeping and office admin is to keep the courses short and manageable. When we operated our Sydney training centres we tried to keep class times between 2.5-3 hours because most students can’t concentrate for a whole day.

For the MYOB & Xero Bookkeeping Courses this means that students can enrol into short courses, which are now commonly referred to as Micro Courses that cover very specific skills. We’ve recently changed how we show this information using our Learning Orbs.

Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence since OpenAI introduced their “experimental” ChatGPT service and I can see why!

Gautam Adani is the 3rd wealthiest person in the world (correction! his value has fallen a LOT in the last week since publishing this post) and he has made recent claims about how ground breaking it is. Here are just some ways that Artificial Intelligence will help bookkeepers..

Deep Dives, Huddles, Sprints & MYOB & Xero Training Course Resources

Project plans and gantt chart templates in Microsoft Excel 2016 training courses online

These are terms that I definitely have not grown up with but they describe what goes on in most modern workplaces, particularly when you are collaborating as part of a team.

These terms are usually associated with projects that are created in an agile development system and at EzyLearn they relate to our regular training course updates and additions as well as our digital marketing campaigns. Here’s some of the modern day terminology and how it relates to our training course development.

Straighten Up and Fly Right

Straigten up and fly right by Robbie Williams at the Royal Albert Hall - 2023 New Years Resolutions - Learn Bookkeeping skills with EzyLearn

I hope you enjoyed your New Years Eve and that you are still on track for your New Years resolution (if you like to make one). I had a bigger NYE experience than I anticipated and one of the most interesting comments that someone made to me was their New Years resolution – to Straighten Up and Fly Right.

It got me thinking about how complex our lives are these days and how many things we now have around us that distract us from what is important.

Competing with Udemy for Micro Skills Training Courses in Xero

Compare Online Training Courses to learn how to use Xero - 2 Udemy vs EzyLearn

The end of the calendar year, school holidays, summer and Christmas all combine to give us all a break from what we’ve been doing all year. It’s also a time for reflection about what we’ve done during the year and of things we would change in the new year.

One of the challenges we faced this year was trying to explain the differences between our training courses and those provided by dozens of new training options which are now available – even Youtube!

Udemy is a particularly interesting challenge because they are not a training company but a Learning Management System that also spends money advertising some of the courses on their platform.

You Don’t Need a Cert IV in Bookkeeping & Accounting to be a Contract Bookkeeper

Christina from Glenmore in Sydney graduated from the Xero Complete Training Course & Certificate and runs several businesses

Starting a bookkeeping business has been a go to option for many mums returning to the workforce, particularly if they did accounting and office administration work before having children.

I’ve been writing about starting a bookkeeping business at this website since we started our bookkeeping blog and as you can see it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

Since the GST, however and the creation of the Registered BAS Agent some things have changed.

Does it feel like you’re knocking your head against a brick wall and not getting job interviews?

ATS match rates for Job Applications for Accounts job requiring MYOB and Xero skills - the Career Academy for Bookkeeping Certificate graduates from Ezylearn

I was speaking with a job seeker recently and she was telling me that she had applied for hundreds of jobs and tried dozens of employment sites but got NO job interviews. I mentioned to her that the employment rate is very low at the moment and that there is a lot of demand so she might do all right if she keeps trying.

What I copped next was flurry of expletives about how the Government is making up lies and that there are no jobs available. This lady continued to bend my ear until I had to excuse myself politely.

The problem that most people have with the Job Application Process is that they’re not practiced at it. There is a method and process to follow when applying for jobs and if you approach it with desperation or you get frustrated you lose sight of how you come across to the employer.

The employer is simply following a process to find the best potential job applicant and they want to make sure they get it right. Need help in the job search and application process? That’s where the Career Academy from EzyLearn come in.

R U Spending Too Much Time Alone?

Do you spend more time alone or with your partner, co-workers or your children - Study Xero & MYOB Online Courses and spend time with your family - EzyLearn

Many new students learnt how to use online accounting software like Xero and MYOB Business Essentials during the Covid Period because they were working remotely from home. Most of those students thought we had just started working from home ourselves but we told them we’ve been online for over a decade.

The conversation topics that came up a lot was how can you work from home, do you get lonely, do you get distracted etc?

The reality is that our entire team work from home and once you are used to the discipline of working from home you can take lots of breaks when you need them and can focus better on customer service. I found some research that showed just how much time people are now spending alone.

Xero Boast Top Innovator in “AFR BOSS Most Innovative list”, Just Behind Telstra!

Xero wrote about their AI achievements using machine learning to predict the name and account code for your transactions when performing a bank reconciliation. Bank feeds have been a constant and regular theme in Xero’s marketing and this reinforces how they are using technology to reduce the time it takes to reconcile.

It makes sense that a bank like NAB or CBA buys MYOB because if you could automatically make sure that your finances in your MYOB or Xero software reflected exactly what your bank statements say you’d eliminate half the work that junior bookkeepers do.

Xero Prices Increase By $2 Again But No New Features – Are They Desperate for Cash?

One of Australia’s most popular small business accounting software has upped its pricing again, but with no new major added features for users (like when they included Hubdoc features in a previous hike).

Xero has announced that from September 1, 2022, three of its plans will increase in price, with the smallest increase at $2/month through to a $14/month hike.

So why are Xero prices increasing and what does it mean for users?  Xero has some pretty expensive recent purchases, and their share price is still declining, so could this spell financial troubles for Xero?

If ANZ Bank Buys MYOB will you EVER need to reconcile again?

One of the more time-consuming and tricky parts of catchup bookkeeping is reconciling your bank account and bank statement – which means going between your accounting software and bank.

In software like MYOB, even if you use bank feeds to import your transactions into your accounting software, you still need to make sure these match your bank’s records.

But what if your accounting software got the information directly from your bank daily?  With ANZ in talks to buy MYOB, here’s what you need to know about where banking and accounting software meet:

Payroll Training Course Integrations: Square Payroll versus Xero?

Now that paying by card is the norm, retailers have needed to adapt to the cashless customer.  If you’ve been to some local markets recently, maybe a sporting club canteen or even your regular café, you may have noticed that you’re tapping your card on a little white square instead of an EFTPOS machine.

Block Inc. – previously known as Square Inc – is a point-of-sale (POS) system winning over retailers and enterprises across the world.  And it’s not just little white payment terminals, Square offers a range of technology and services that range from POS to payroll to inventory to marketing, AND, they recently purchased AfterPay!

Square integrates with Xero, and considering its popularity, let’s break down what Square is and how it compares to other Xero integrations like Planday.
