Digital Business Skills to Compliment Xero & MYOB Training

Xero-MYOB-Microsoft-Excel-Bookkeeping-Academy-freelance-or-contract-workers-for-your-business-online-business-training-course-EzyLearn

Digital Business Skills are important for everyone who works for a company or who owns one. Authentication for Xero Course students highlighted to me the importance of general digital business skills. Our Digital Business Course has been available for a while as a FREE student inclusion but we’ve recently added to it.

Electricians, tradies and real estate agents are communicating with prospects and customers digitally, even regarding their accounts, and I wrote about how we’ve started to see these skills come up in office admin job ads. If you have any doubts about how to do this you need to up-skill.

Xero Me – the App That Prepares Xero Users for Planday Acquisition

Xero Me App Screens - Employees can request leave, submit expense claims and view payslips - Best Xero Online Training Courses - EzyLearn

In June 2021 I announced a new Workforce Management Cast Study in development. In their most recent annual report to shareholders Xero announced the acquisition of yet another “integration” that sets it up to become the Sage of Small Business Accounting.

Sage and other ERM’s work on the basis of modules that provide a specific functionality but until now it was only really relevant for the big end of town. Now Xero will capture revenue from several apps rather than charge one price that includes everything. It’s going back to the days of Attache!

Xero Verify or Google Authenticator?

Xero Verify, Xero Authenticator or Google Authenticator - Online Xero Certificate Training Courses for job seekers, business owners and accountants- EzyLearn

I spend a lot of time around website admin areas and online software so I’ve had to authenticate myself using Multi-Factor Authentication for several different online services and choose Google Authenticator.

Xero has recently announced their own Xero Verify app and although I would never use Xero as my authentication software I wanted to check it out and see how good it is. Turns out it’s not so good.

Rejected by Afterpay? Xero Marketplace has an alternative

Xero Marketplace for integrated apps - Beginners to Advanced Certificate short online training courses in Xero - EzyLearn

Did you know that Afterpay (and ZipPay) and some other Buy Now Pay Later providers decline sellers? Most Afterpay transactions are centered around the selling of physical products that change ownership from the merchant to the customer. This evidence is enough to bind customers legally, but what happens if you provide professional services like bookkeeping or accounting?

Accountants and Bookkeepers, like many other professional service providers including Lawyers and solicitors charge for their time or defined outcomes (like fixed fees for a certain number of transactions).

Will Afterpay take you on as a client? We’ve heard that many industries are rejected but there are alternatives and Xero’s App Store can help.

NAB Slyps past Xero Hubdoc to integrate Smart Receipts for Merchants and Customers

NAB, CBA, ANZ and WBC Slyp under Xero to provide smart receipts before Hubdoc gets them - Learn MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks to find accounts jobs - EzyLearn

One of the most publicised recent acquisitions for Xero was Canadian Receipt Capture, Scan and Coding software HubDoc. Rather than send a “bank-like” email informing users that the monthly fee to use Xero was increasing, Xero “sold” the value of the pesky increase of $2 as a saving of $27.50 because they included the Receipt Capture features in the software! That’s smart marketing.

In the meantime, MYOB forged an alliance with Bunnings as every large fintech, accounting and banking organisation tries to get into the Smart Receipt marketing at the source. Here are some of the things that have happened.

Xero vs GoDaddy Website Hosting Company Accounting Software? Attn: New Minimum Viable Website Service

Xero to re-elect Steven Aldrich as non-executive director - online customer service and receptionist services - Xero online training courses

When you look at the two companies Xero Accounting and GoDaddy hosting companies are very similar. They both provide cloud-based solutions, for a subscription fee and have small businesses as their major clients. They are both in a very good position to provide accounting software for their customers.

One of the Xero Directors sold an accounting software program to GoDaddy in 2012 and at the time TechCrunch reported that Accounting software is a logical service for them to provide to their small business clients. What does it mean for the future though?

Xero Learn. Xero software offered for $6 per month. Why are businesses paying $60+ NEW: RESUME REVIEW SERVICE

It’s interesting and exciting that Xero now offer their Xero Learn service to training course publishers like EzyLearn for $6 per month. This ongoing access to Xero Accounting software seemed exciting at first but then I realised that it’s just accounting software! AND it’s just for training! AND 30 days is MORE than enough per case study!

Most students don’t want to access Xero accounting software forever. Even business owners don’t really want to pay an ongoing fee for their accounting software – they want something else..

Is Xero the software of choice for real estate property managers

Re-leased-property management software integration image at Xero partner integration website - smart digital marketing

I was reading some recent announcements from Xero as they try to displace Sage as the small business accounting software of choice in the United Kingdom and notice some announcements they have about how Xero is a great tool for property management.

It was an eye opener because it shows how aggressive they are against MYOB by quoting a client publicly who converted from MYOB to Xero. They didn’t mention that Re-Leased software also has an integration with QuickBooks Online – but why would they? Here’s what they wrote..

How my 7 year old son learnt about credit risk and how that can help tradies

QuickBooks Online Training Courses - Acquired CreditKarma to help clients check on credit scores and get loans

My 7 year old son lent me $5 (which I then lent to his 12 year old brother) and then he lent his brother a further $10 directly so the older brother could buy something he really wanted at the time. Is it getting complicated already!?

This lending happened over a month ago and a conflict is brewing over the $10 he lent to the 12 year old because it was underwritten by his pocket money which had not been paid at the time.

So simple isn’t it. All this credit offered and accepted and it seems less relevant because it relates to my kids but these lessons last a lifetime so it’s important to explain credit risk and recourse. Continue reading How my 7 year old son learnt about credit risk and how that can help tradies
